IBM has shown four interconnects joining two of its Nighthawk quantum processors. Semiconductor Engineering reported an average quantum state-transfer fidelity of 99 percent and a two-qubit gate fidelity of 94.75 percent across that link. The point of the experiment is modular machines: several smaller processors working as one, instead of one ever-larger chip.
This is a laboratory result about connecting processors. It does not put a quantum computer on a student laptop, and it does not replace the classical computers used for college labs.
When a headline says quantum computing has arrived, ask what was measured and on how many qubits. Fidelity numbers describe that test. They are not a mark sheet for every problem.
