On 30 October 2026 the IEEE Computer Society named the recipients of its 2026-2027 Emerging Technology Grants. One funded effort, AGORA, is a hands-on community lab where students and IEEE members build autonomous AI agents and then practise defending them. The aim is a set of reusable exercises and an open curriculum, not a private exploit kit.
Other grants in the same round include a quantum-hardware hackathon, where student teams program the electronics that control qubits, and PhotonICS, an introduction to photonic chips for optical computing.
Cybersecurity for AI is a lab subject: know what the system is allowed to do, log what it did, and check the result. Do not download random attack tools. Use only a range your college or a public curriculum provides.
